Our Story

of giving hope

Who we are

We work for children with cancer in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. We support more than 500 children holistically. We aim to bring in a change in the field of childhood cancer through our untiring work in the same. In our journey with the children, we hold their hands all the way through. Join us in this journey to light up their faces and lives.

Our mission is to make sure that the child overcomes cancer if it’s medically possible, that access to treatment, ignorance of the disease, or lack of money will not be a hindrance in getting the child the best possible treatment.

We envision that our organisation will always work to bring about changes in childhood cancer, that it will strive to make sure that children with cancer will have pain-free and quality treatment.

Our organisation was founded on May 3, 2013. It is a registered NGO with 3 Trustees and an Advisory Board consisting of Doctors, Parents, Survivors, Volunteers and Donors. We hold 12 A and 80G certification. Our Trustees believe in running the NGO ethically and with integrity.

Our Board

Bindu N Nair

Managing Trustee

Being the Founder of this 6 year old organisation, Bindu’s work completely revolves around Aroh and its well being. Aroh is close and personal to her. Having been in the social work field for over 15 years now, she has helped achieve major milestones for Aroh and the field of childhood cancer- an uncommon focus in our society.

Deepu Nair

Trustee

Deepu’s generous contributions made it possible for Aroh to begin and flourish. His imminent support has lead us to where we are today. Deepu still remains one of the top donors of our NGO, contributing a part of his personal income regularly. His networking skills have also helped aid our finances largely.

Hariprasad Gokul R

Trustee

Hari has been involved with a lot of charitable activities all his life. He was a volunteer of Make-A-Wish Foundation of India from 2010-13. He is the logical voice of Aroh. He also takes care of Aroh’s online presence. Based in Banglore, he works for Team Indus as an Engineer-Communication.

Our Team

We help with

Medical Support

The child’s relationship with Aroh starts when he/she meets with our volunteers or staff in the hospital. We offer patient navigation, help with diagnostic tests, pay for medical support involving surgery, chemotherapy and radiation. We also distribute medicines and help with tests and scans.  In association with hospice and palliative care centres, we offer home care and end-life care to its children.

Food and Nutrition

We provide food to the patient and the care giver through tie-ups with hospital canteens and outside restaurants. We give grocery kits every month to deserving families to ensure that the children have well-balanced meals to maintain their immunity levels. We also distribute health drinks, dry fruits and fruits to the children.

Psycho-Social Support

Our strong Parent Support Group empowers and supports its members. We provide counselling to the parents and children whenever necessary. Our psychologist and trained volunteers help with bereavement support also. We take pride in the fact that the members view the NGO as their family and everyone feels a sense of belonging. This gives the much-needed emotional support to its members.

Education

We provide school bags and stationery to all the school going kids every year. Tuition fees and school fees of the kids are also given. There are also monthly classes conducted by us to give awareness and exposure to the children on various aspects of life. Experts from different walks of life take classes. We also conduct classes on art, craft, and wild life regularly.
